Got this recipe from a co-worker a few years ago. My husband loves these.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2 clove
    garlic
  • 1- 8 oz. can
    tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c
    dry onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/3 c
    bread crumbs, dry
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 6
    hero buns, toasted
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 dash
    pepper

How to Make Meatball Heroes

Step-by-Step

  1. In saucepan heat first 2 ingredients together.
  2. Stir in next 4 ingredients and 1 cup water.
  3. Gently boil, uncovered, about 10 to 15 minutes; stir occasionally till slightly thickened.
  4. Combine milk, crumbs, salt and pepper.
  5. Add meat; mix well.
  6. Shape into 24 small balls; brown in hot olive oil.
  7. Add to sauce; cook, covered, 20 minutes.
  8. Serve 4 meatballs with sauce in each bun.
