I love cabbage rolls. This is an old German recipe that I found in an old Pennsylvania Dutch cookbook and tweaked a little bit. I hope to make this soon but am guessing at the number of servings because none were given.

Ingredients For meat and cabbage

1 lbground beef

1/3 crice (uncooked)

2 Tbspbutter

1onion, finely sliced

1egg, beaten well

1 ctomato soup
-
1lemon, juice of
-
1 tspsugar
-
1 tspparsley, minced
-
1/2 ccelery, chopped
-
salt and pepper, to taste

6cabbage leaves
How To Make meat and cabbage

1Season the hamburger well with salt and pepper and add the egg. Mix well. Mix in rice.

2To make sauce, melt the butter and add the tomato soup and an equal amount of water and add to onion.

3Add the parsley, celery, lemon juice, sugar, salt and pepper, and cook for 10 minutes.

4Wash the cabbage leaves and boil until tender. Put 2 Tbsp of meat mixture in each leaf and roll tightly.

5Secure each roll with a toothpick. Place in a saucepan and pour sauce over rolls. Cover pan tightly and cook slowly for 3 hours.

6Serve very hot.
