This chili can be as spicy as you like by using mild, medium, or hot salsa. It is great served over brown rice, with cornbread, or with tortilla chips and sour cream!

garlic, minced

diced tomotoes(14-15oz can), undrained

salsa, mild
2 pkg
old elpaso chili seasoning
1 1/2 c
2 can(s)
dark red kidney beans(14-15oz can), drained
2 can(s)
pinto beans(14-15oz can), drained
1 pt
sour cream
1 c
cheddar cheese, shredded
1 bunch
scallions, chopped

How to Make Mary's Chili


  • 1Brown hamburger with onion, green pepper and garlic.
  • 2In a large soup pot, place the next 6 ingredients and stir to mix well.
  • 3Drain hamburger mixture and add to pot, stir to mix.
  • 4Cook on low for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • 5Garnish with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese and scallions!
