My BFFs Mom made this first time 40+ years ago -- I have been in love with it ever since! Made it many times and everyone likes it. May be cooked in broiler or on the grill.

1 1/2 lb
flank steak
1/4 c
soy sauce
3 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
vinegar (i use red wine vinegar)
1/2 tsp
powdered garlic
1/2 tsp
ginger powder
1/2 c
salad oil
onion, chopped

How to Make Marinated Flank Steak


  • 1Mix marinade well. Tenderize the meat by pounding it to break down the muscle. This also makes the marinade work better.
  • 2Marinate meat for 24 hours. DO NOT SKIMP ON MARINATING TIME! NOTE: A gallon ZipLock bag is great for marinating the meat - just put in an 8X12 pan in the fridge.
  • 3Broil 10 minutes on each side. May be cooked in broiler or on the grill. Thinly slice on diagonal.

    May be successfully doubled -- 1 1/2 the recipe for two flank steaks.
