Ingredients

  • 1 pound good quality ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup corn flake crumbs
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
  • 1 - 8 ounce block mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 cups pizza sauce
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 - submarine sandwich rolls

How To Make lisas' hot italian meatball sandwiches

  • Step 1
    Combine beef, pork, crumbs, milk, egg, italian seasoning and onion.
  • Step 2
    Mix well and form into 1 1/2 inch meatballs.
  • Step 3
    Cube the mozzarella into 1/2\" cubes.
  • Step 4
    Press 1 cube into each meatball, cover well with the meat.
  • Step 5
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes.
  • Step 6
    In a saucepan heat the pizza sauce.
  • Step 7
    Add meatballs and warm through.
  • Step 8
    Slice a V shaped lengthwise cut into sub rolls.
  • Step 9
    Use the cut out for breadcrumbs later.
  • Step 10
    Pile down the cut 5-6 meatballs.
  • Step 11
    Spoon on sauce and lay a slice of mozzarella cut in half so it covers the length of the roll on the top of the sandwich.
  • Step 12
    Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until bubbly.
