Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    mixed herbs (oregano, basil, marjoram)
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cumin seeds
  • 5/8 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1.5 c
    potatoes, sliced
  • 1 medium
    onion, sliced and separated in rings
  • 1.25 c
    mushrooms
  • 1 c
    cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c
    swiss cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley

How to Make Layered Hamburger Pie

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix beef with egg, bread crumbs, salt, herbs, mustard, cumin and garlic powder.
  2. Pat evenly into a 9 inch pie pan to make a crust.
  3. Fill crust with a layer of potatoes, onion and mushrooms, reserving some mushrooms to ring the pie.
  4. Cover with foil.
  5. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until potatoes are done.
  6. Remove from oven.
  7. Remove foil.
  8. Top with cheese and sprinkle with parsley.
  9. Return to oven just long enough to melt cheese.
