Ingredients For korean ground beef and rice bowl

  • 1 lb
    extra lean ground beef
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 sm
    napa or chinese cabbage, shredded
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 2 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger, grated or ginger from a tube
  • 1/4 tsp
    crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp
    freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 c
    white rice, cooked
  • green onions, sesame seeds, for garnish

How To Make korean ground beef and rice bowl

    Rinse the shredded cabbage and let it sit in a bowl of cold water until ready to add to the beef.

    Spray a large skillet with cooking spray, then cook the ground beef and garlic breaking it into crumbles over medium heat. As it browns, add in shredded cabbage, letting a little water remain. Cook the mixture until beef is no longer pink.

    In a small bowl whisk brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes and pepper. Pour over the ground beef and cabbage. Let simmer for another minute or two.

    Serve over hot rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
