Ingredients

  • 5 lb
    rib steak, thinly sliced
  • 2
    garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/4 c
    sesame seeds, toasted and crushed
  • 1 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    peanut oil
  • 1 c
    green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 c
    soy sauce

How to Make Korean Bul Kogi

Step-by-Step

  1. Place meat strips in bowl; add garlic, sesame seeds, green onions, pepper, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar and oil and toss to coat meat well.
  2. Cover and let marinate at room temperature 4 hrs.
  3. BBQ over coals or under the broiler, turning and basting often with marinade until meat is done.
  4. SUBSTITUTIONS: May use flank steak (cut in 1/4" x 2" strips) instead of the rib steak, and may substitute corn oil for peanut oil.
