jeanne's chili con queso

I make this recipe on a fairly regular basis. It's a great dish to make for get-togethers like football parties, poker night, etc. I usually put it in a slow cooker so that I can keep it warm during the event. These photos come from McCormick.com and other internet websites.

Ingredients

  • 1 - large box velveeta cheese
  • 2 cans rotel diced tomatoes (regular or hot)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage (regular or hot)
  • - garlic salt, to taste
  • - black pepper, to taste
  • - milk, if needed

How To Make jeanne's chili con queso

  • Step 1
Brown ground beef and sausage in a large skillet, seasoning with garlic salt and black pepper to taste. Drain and set aside.
  • Step 2
Cut cheese into 2 inch cubes and put in non-stick sauce pan. Melt cheese over low to medium heat.
  • Step 3
Add Rotel Tomatoes while cheese is melting.
  • Step 4
Add ground beef and sausage and mix well.
  • Step 5
If mixture is too thick, add a little milk to reach the desired thickness.
  • Step 6
I usually transfer this mixture into a slow cooker and put it on low so it will stay warm.
  • Step 7
    Serve with tortilla chips.
