jane's beef stroganoff

Jane worked with me for about 2 years in 1974. she was a great cook and served this often.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin tip cut into small bite size pieces
  • 3 bottles flour, or enough to flour beef tips
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons butter for browning

How To Make jane's beef stroganoff

  • Step 1
    Cut beef into bite size pieces, roll in flour and brown in a large skillet with 1 to 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Step 2
    After browing beef remove from skillet and set aside
  • Step 3
    Put a little more butter in skillet and then place chopped onions and celery in it and about 10 minutes at very low heat.
  • Step 4
    After onion and celery are tenderized, add mushroom soup, water, sour cream and wors. sauce.
  • Step 5
    Simmer about 5 minutes and then add beef back to skillet. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6
    Simmer all for at least 30 minutes and 3 to 4 hours for best results. Serve over rice or noodles.
