We love pot roast but I wanted to spice it up for a different taste. This is a great way to fix it with herbs and red wine!

Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 1
    roast, trimmed
  • ·
    red potatoes cut into wedges
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 15 oz. can(s)
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    red wine
  • 2 large
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 c
    beef broth, reduced sodium

How to Make Italian Pot Roast


  1. Brown all sides of roast in vegetable oil.
  2. Combine tomato sauce and next nine ingredients.
  3. Place potatoes in bottom of a crock pot and place roast on top of pototoes. Pour sauce over roast and potatoes.
  4. Cook in crock pot 8-10 hours or until done. (Or bake, covered at 325 degress for 3 hours or until roast is tender.)
