Mom made Italian Beef for baby showers, bridal showers, etc. I altered her recipe, however, I bake, let the roast cool so I can skim off the fat, then slice, and return to the liquid to let heat again to serve (makes it very tender). You can serve on slider buns if desired (for those parties).

Ingredients
- 6 pounds rump roast, trimmed
- 2 teaspoons red pepper, diced
- 2 teaspoons basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 package onion soup mix, sprinkle on top (see notes for alternatives)
- 3 cups water
How To Make italian beefs

Step 1Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 3 hours. Slice beef and serve on onion buns.

Step 2Notes: This was the original recipe. I, however omitted the onion soup mix and covered with a can of beef consume soup instead.
