irish beef stew the slow cooker way

This is a great all in one meal that will cook while you are at work. Cooks on medium heat for 8 to 9 hours.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pot roast cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 can chicken stock
  • 8 medium carrots, cut up
  • 5 - potatoes peeled and cut up
  • 1 - onion chopped
  • 1 small heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

How To Make irish beef stew the slow cooker way

  • Step 1
    Heat 2 tablespoons canola oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring until soft and translucent. In a bowl toss cut up beef in 1 tablespoon of flour, season with salt and pepper until beef is well coated. Add seasoned beef into a pan and sear on all sides until brown.
  • Step 2
    Add cook onions and sear beef into slow cooker.
  • Step 3
    Peel and cut up potatoes and carrots, place into slow cooker, along with chicken stock, beer and Worcestershire sauce. Cook in slow cooker on low for 7 to 8 hours while you are at work.
  • Step 4
    Place heavy cream into slow cooker about an hour before serving.
