You can use beef short ribs with this recipe also. Great served over mashed potatoes.

Ingredients For instant pot beef cheeks with red wine

  • 2 lb
    beef cheeks
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 md
    onion chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 c
    baby bella mushroom sliced
  • 1/4 c
    tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 c
    red wine
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    water

How To Make instant pot beef cheeks with red wine

    Remove any sinew from beef cheeks and season them with salt and pepper. Turn your instant pot on sear/saute. Add oil to the pot and sear the beef cheeks on all sides. Remove to a plate and set aside.

    Add to the pot the onion, garlic, and mushrooms and cook 3 to 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the tomato paste, balsamic vinegar and red wine.

    Add the cheeks back into the pot and cook at high pressure for 50 minutes. Let pressure release naturally for 15 minutes then do quick release. Remove meat with slotted spoon to a plate. Mix the cornstarch and water together and turn the instant pot to saute and stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until thickened. Serve the sauce over the meat.
