Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 c
    celery ribs, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    garlic clove, minced
  • 16 oz
    garbanzos, with juice
  • 16 oz
    pork and beans (16 ounces)
  • 1/2 c
    green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 6 oz
    tomato paste

How to Make Hungry Boy

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook and stir the meat, celery, onion, and garlic in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
  2. Drain off the the excess fat.
  3. Stir in the undrained garbanzo beans and remaining ingredients.
  4. TO COOK IN A SKILLET: Heat the mixture to boiling then reduce the heat and simmer.
  5. Covered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve hot.
  7. TO COOK IN THE OVEN: Pour the mixture into an ungreased 2-quart casserole.
  8. Cover and bake in a 375 degree oven until hot and bubbly, about 45 minutes.
