1 lbbeef stew meat
1 clovegarlic i use about 4
2 mediumonion diced
2 tsppaprika i use hungarian
1 1/8 tsppepper i use about 10 peppercorns
2beef boullion cubes
2 cwater divided
2 cpotato diced
How to Make Hungarian Goulash
- Cut beef into 1" cubes and brown in a little lard.Add all but one cup of water and potato. Cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
- Add 1 cup water and potatoes cut in 3/4"cubes. Cook 2o min.Thicken with 1/4 cup water and 2 Tbs flour.
- Flour Dumplings: 2 cups flour. 2 eggs. 1 tsp salt. pinch of baking powder.milk to moisten. Add by lgr spoonfulls to boiling water and let cook for about 4 mins after they start to float. Add dumplings to goulash and serve. Note: I usaully double the dumpling recipe.
