I got this recipe from my stepmother and we have all enjoyed it for years. It is almost too easy. only 4 main ingredients.

prep time 30 Min
cook time 2 Hr
method ---
yield 4-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef round cubes
  • 3 pounds yellow onions
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • - salt, pepper, and paprika to taste
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • - olive oil

How To Make hungarian goulash

  • Step 1
In large, heavy sauce pot, sear beef cubes in olive oil.
  • Step 2
Peel and slice onions, add to beef cubes, cover and let cook down 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
While onions are cooking, mix the tomato paste and beer in a medium bowl. Add to pot and then spice with salt, pepper and paprika to your personal liking. Add bay leaf, then cover and simmer for one and a half to two hours, or until beef is tender. Remove bay leaf prior to serving.
  • Step 4
Serve over egg noodles, rice or potatoes. Our preference is bow ties,or dumpling style.
