I got this recipe from my stepmother and we have all enjoyed it for years. It is almost too easy. only 4 main ingredients.

beef round cubes
3 lb
yellow onions
1
bay leaf
salt, pepper, and paprika to taste
1 can(s)
beer
1 can(s)
tomato paste
olive oil

How to Make Hungarian Goulash

Step-by-Step

  • 1In large, heavy sauce pot, sear beef cubes in olive oil.
  • 2Peel and slice onions, add to beef cubes, cover and let cook down 10 minutes.
  • 3While onions are cooking, mix the tomato paste and beer in a medium bowl. Add to pot and then spice with salt, pepper and paprika to your personal liking. Add bay leaf,then cover and simmer for one and a half to two hours, or until beef is tender. Remove bay leaf prior to serving.
  • 4Serve over egg noodles, rice or potatoes. Our preference is bow ties,or dumpling style.
