Ingredients
- 1 pound hamburger
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons onion salt
- 1 - egg beaten
- 1 1/4 cups favorite barbecue sauce
- ONION TOPPING
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 - sweet onions thinly sliced
- SAUCE
- 1/2 cup mayonaise
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- ADD
- 4 slices smoky cheddar cheese
- 4 - hamburger buns

Step 1In a bowl, combine the bread crumbs, onion salt, and brown sugar.Add egg. Crumble beef over the mixture and mix well.Shape into 4 patties. Place into a shallow dish: pour barbecue sauce over patties. Cover and refrigerate 2..to 4 hours

Step 2In a small bowl combine the sauce ingredients, cover and refrigerate until ready to spread on bun

Step 3For the topping melt butter in a large skillet , stir in honey until blended.Add onions and saute for 15 minutes until a carmel brown..keep warm

Step 4Drain the burgers and discard the covering sauce..Grill patties, uncovered, over med hot coals for 5-7 minutes in each side or until juices run clear..top with cheese slice..serve on the buns with onion topping and sauce
