This is a delicious homestyle chili, the bacon, and smoked paprika add a beautiful depth of flavor. It's so tasty! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 package bacon
  • 1 - green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium yellow onions, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 can tomatoes, canned italian-style and diced
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can kidney beans, canned
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • salt and pepper

How To Make homestyle chili

  • Step 1
    Chop bacon, and cook over medium high heat in a large stock pot. Remove and drain.
  • Step 2
    In the same pot add olive oil, peppers, and onion. Saute until onion begin to look translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain and return to heat.
  • Step 3
    Add bacon back into the pot. Add broth, tomato sauce, diced tomato, beans, and spices. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer on low heat 30-45min.
  • Step 4
    Serve hot. Top with sour cream and cheddar cheese optional.
