I really did not measure the amount of fresh bread crumbs, so the amount listed is a guess. I used 5 pieces of bread. Put them on a cookie sheet in a 300 degree oven for about 30 minutes, then put in food processor.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2-3/4 cup milk
  • 1-2 cup bread crumbs, fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • - salt and pepper
  • dash onion powder (because my kids pick out the onions)

How To Make homemade meatballs

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray large baking dish with Pam or other spray coating. Mix all ingredients well. I did this by hand, but I'm sure dough hooks would work fine. Shape into walnut sized (1 inch) balls or larger if serving as a main dish (Spaghetti).
  • Step 2
    Sauce(s): My husband and daughter both prefer a brown gravy with their meatballs, served over buttered noodles. I usually use a packaged brown gravy mix. Personally, I prefer the BBQ sauce, and they are just as yummy with the buttered noodles. BBQ Sauce - 1 can crushed tomatoes 1/2 c. vinegar 1/2 - 1 c. brown sugar (depending how sweet you like it Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to boil. If everyone likes this sauce it is especially good to pour over cooked meatballs and let simmer in a slow cooker. Serve with
