  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 8 oz
    elbow macaroni
  • 2 c
  • 1 1/4 c
  • 1/2 tsp
    each ground mustrard and paprika
  • 1/8 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 c
    white american cheese shredded
  • 1 1/2 c
    sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 c
    panko bread crumbs
  • 1
    scallion dark green parts only

How to Make Homemade Hamburger Helper


  1. Add the butter to a large skillet. After the butter is melted add the ground beef and garlic. Cook until beef is no longer pink. Add the macaroni, milk, water, and spices. Bring to a boil reduce heat and simmer until macaroni is cooked.
  2. Add the cheeses and cook until cheese is melted. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper. Heat a broiler and transfer the macaroni to a casserole dish and top with Panko. Broil until Panko is browned.
  3. Top with green parts of the scallion and serve.
