Ingredients For hoisin braised beef

  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 lb
    beef chuck roast, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 c
    dry sherry
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 1/4 c
    Hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced ginger
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp
    chili garlic sauce
  • minced scallions, for garnish

How To Make hoisin braised beef

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Place a Dutch oven over medium heat on the stove and add the vegetable oil. Brown the beef cubes on all sides.

    Then transfer to a plate.

    Add sherry to the pan and deglaze scrapping up the bits on the bottom.
  • 4
    Add the remaining ingredients except the scallions. Add the beef back to the Dutch oven.

    Cover and place in the oven. Cook for about an hour.
  • 6
    Serve over rice and garnish with scallions.
