    frozen spinach, thawed
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    oil
  • 1/3 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1
    shallot, large
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    ground veal
  • 1/4 lb
    pork sausage
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice
  • 1/4 tsp
    mace
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    madeira
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • ·
    hot pepper sauce to taste
  • 3/4 c
    bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp
    dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp
    chili sauce
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano
  • 1/2 lb
    grated mozzarella cheese

How to Make Herbed Spinach Loaf

Step-by-Step

  1. Cook spinach in butter and drain
  2. Saute onions, shallot and garlic in oil
  3. Add spinach. Cook until water evaporates.
  4. Combine rest of ingredients and bake 1 hour (glaze often)
  5. Last 15 minutes top with cheese.
