I make this recipe every summer. In the winter sometimes I'll use this instead of ketchup for my meatloaf.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup raisin puree
  • 1 1/3 cups white vinegar
  • 1 cup tomato paste
  • 2/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons apple juice concentrate
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric

How To Make copycat heinz 57 sauce

  • Step 1
    To make raisin puree, add 1/3 cup each of raisins and water to your food processor and puree until smooth. Measure 1/4 cup of the mixture into your saucepan.
  • Step 2
    Add the rest of the ingredients and whick it all together until well blended. Bring to a roiling boil over medium high heat, stirring continuously. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, or until sauce thickens.
  • Step 3
    Cool. Pour into a bottle and refrigerate 24 hours, or more, to allow the flavors to mingle
