Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 slices rye bread, torn up
  • 1 cup beer or bouillon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

How To Make heidelberg meat loaf

  • Step 1
    Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Mix all of the ingredients together.
  • Step 3
    Spread the mixture into an ungreased loaf pan, 9 X 5 X 3-inches.
  • Step 4
    Bake uncovered for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
  • Step 5
    Drain off the excess fat and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Step 6
    Serve on a heated platter.
