Ingredients

1 lb
ground chuck
20 oz
can tomatoes
1 c
chopped onion
1 small
bay leaf
1 large
garlic clove, chopped
1/2 tsp
dried thyme
1.5 qt
water
1/4 tsp
dried basil
1 c
potatoes, cubed
1 Tbsp
salt
1 c
carrots, sliced
1/8 tsp
pepper
1 c
celery, diced
1/4 c
rice, uncooked
1 c
cabbage, shredded
1
grated parmesan cheese

Step-By-Step

1In a large kettle, cook beef with onion and garlic until slightly brown.
2Add water, potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage and tomatoes; bring mixture to a boil.
3Add bay leaf, thyme, basil, salt and pepper; stir.
4Sprinkle rice on top.
5Reduce heat, cover and simmer one hour.
6Remove bay leaf.
7Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.
