Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 20 ounces can tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 1 large garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1.5 quarts water
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup potatoes, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1/4 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 1 - grated parmesan cheese

How To Make hamburger minestrone soup

  • Step 1
    In a large kettle, cook beef with onion and garlic until slightly brown.
  • Step 2
    Add water, potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage and tomatoes; bring mixture to a boil.
  • Step 3
    Add bay leaf, thyme, basil, salt and pepper; stir.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle rice on top.
  • Step 5
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer one hour.
  • Step 6
    Remove bay leaf.
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.
