This is a comfort food. This is a recipe I watched my sister Sharon make. She is a master "chef", inspired me to cook. I was just 12 or 13 years old when she made this for me. I still cook it up on those cold North Dakota days.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 15 Min
method ---
yield 3 to 4

Ingredients

  • one pound lean ground beef
  • six - north dakota red potatoes peel and diced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • pinch black pepper
  • - salt to taste
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon flour

How To Make hamburger hash

  • Step 1
Peel Potatoes, dice and boil Brown ground beef with seasonings and chopped onion, when browned I rinse to get rid of any extra grease.
  • Step 2
Cook potatoes till desired firmness; Drain potatoes keeping enough liquid on them to cover slightly about cup of water. Add the water, potatoes to the browned ground beef and sprinkle the flour over all, stir and bring to a boil, this should have thickened the mixture up to a pasty consistency, cook for another couple of minutes.
  • Step 3
I have to taste and add more salt or pepper. Final touch slice the butter over each serving. ENJOY!
