hamburger fried rice
This is a very easy lunch or dinner. I made this when my children were young. It was created one day when I was out of money and food. All I had was 2 boxes of Rice A Roni and a pound of hamburger. I put them together and Walla! The kids and I loved it and have been making it since. Some of the best things are made when we have to get creative! They used to sell the Fried rice with almonds but I can not find it with almonds anymore so I add them. The almonds gives it that extra flavor and a little crunch. I always have this with applesauce and a good piece of bread and butter. Its SO good!!!

How To Make hamburger fried rice
-
Step 1First chop the slivered almonds so they are ready. Don't chop them too small. Then in a large fry pan, cook the Rice A Roni per the directions on the package. After adding the water in as the package directions tell you, then add the chopped almonds, stir and simmer according to the directions. I usually simmer it for 17 minutes. I like it a little wet when its done.
-
Step 2While the rice is simmering, in another pan, fry the hamburger until it is no longer pink and drain.
-
Step 3When the rice is done, add the hamburger to the rice a roni and mix, cooking it about 5 to 7 minutes longer letting the water evaporate so it is no longer wet and the hamburger is well incorporated. Add salt and pepper to taste. If you like pepper as I do, it really gives this a good taste.

Step 4This is good to reheat and it freezes well to. The pictures are mine.
