    lean ground beef
  • 1 small
    onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    parsley, minced
  • 2
    eggs
  • SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 c
    swiss or cheddar cheese, diced
  • 1
    tomato, chopped
  • GARNISH

  • 4 slice
    tomato
  • 4 slice
    american cheese

How to Make Ground Beef Patties with Cheese Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix all and divide and shape into 4 patties.
  2. Place in a baking dish.
  3. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, or until meat is done to your liking.
  4. While meat bakes, prepare sauce.
  5. Sauce: Melt butter in a small saucepan; add flour.
  6. Over high heat, stir in milk; heat and stir constantly until thick.
  7. Stir in mustard, cheese and salt; stir until cheese is melted.
  8. Add tomato.
  9. Pour sauce over cooked meat patties.
  10. Top with a slice of cheese and a slice of tomato.
  11. Return to oven just long enough to heat tomato and melt the cheese, 3 to 5 minutes.
