My family loves this Beef dish which is breezy to cook and yummy too. I have had some American friends that ate it as a taco filling when I served it with Pita bread and rice

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
  • 2 - serrano chiles chopped add or reduce per taste
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 4-5 - peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro fresh chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder/ to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, fresh optional for garnish

How To Make ground beef (keema)

  • Step 1
    Heat Oil in a pan
  • Step 2
    Add all the whole spices, Cumin seeds, Cinnamon stick. peppercorns, Cloves etc
  • Step 3
    Once they Start sizzling add the chopped Onions. Fry till they get pink.
  • Step 4
    Now add the ginger, garlic pastes, tomatoes and all spices including 1/2 of chopped cilantro and green chilies and salt
  • Step 5
    Saute on medium flame till oil starts to separate. The tomatoes should be soft by now.
  • Step 6
    Now add the Ground beef. Make sure to mash it up good or else you will get lumps of ground beef. Stir fry for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Add about 3 Table spoons water. Cover and let it simmer till cooked about 10 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Serve with Pita Bread or Naan bread. Can also be eaten with rice
