Ingredients

  • 4 - pita bread rounds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 - garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons green pepper, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 - freshly ground black pepper
  • 1.5 cups tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped

How To Make ground beef in pita

  • Step 1
    Heat the bread in a low oven.
  • Step 2
    Heat the butter in a skillet and saute the onion, garlic and pepper until just soft; do not brown.
  • Step 3
    Add the beef, mustard, oregano, salt and a generous amount of pepper.
  • Step 4
    Cook, stirring, until the meat is no longer red.
  • Step 5
    At the last minute stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook briefly.
  • Step 6
    Cut the pitas in half and stuff the pouches.
