ground beef hash
This recipe came with a skillet I purchased many years ago. It became a family favorite, even with my picky eater. Its very easy and quick to make. Served with a salad and it's a very satisfying meal. Great the next day too.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 4 large onions, coarsely chopped
- 2 large green peppers, thinly sliced
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 (14 oz) cans whole tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- - shredded cheddar
How To Make ground beef hash

Step 1Preheat skillet to 350. Melt butter or margarine. Add onions and green peppers to skillet and saute until soft. Transfer to plate.

Step 2Add meat to skillet and cook until meat is browned, stirring occasionally to break up large pieces. Drain off fat.

Step 3Return onions and peppers to skillet and stir in chili powder, salt and pepper. Then add tomatoes, water and rice. Stir to mix. Reduce temperature and simmer covered, for 35-40 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir occasionally.

Step 4Serve hot with shredded cheddar cheese if desired.
