Grilled Onion Cheeseburgers!

Jody Wood

I made created this burger because I just love the big grilled onion burgers at the county fair. So I just had to make one at home! You can also add an ear of corn on the cob as a side. Yummo!

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This is one of those simple hamburger recipes that pack a big punch of flavor with no need for condiments. The seasoning on the meat is perfect without overpowering the natural flavor of the meat. The cheese is nice and gooey and the caramelized onions add a hint of sweetness. I loved using the onion bun too. A super simple cheeseburger recipe.

1 lb
lean ground beef
1 small
yellow onion
onion hamburger buns
2 slice
American cheese
3 dash(es)
Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp
Johnny's seasoning salt
1/2 tsp
Grill-Mates steak seasoning
1/4 tsp
garlic powder
1 Tbsp

1For the hamburgers: Take 1 lb of lean ground beef and mix in a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning, and some garlic powder and mix well. Form into two patties. Grill patties on a cast iron skillet until done to your liking and add cheese.
2For the Grilled Onions: Slice up entire small yellow onion. In a saute pan, add a tablespoon of butter and melt. Add onion and Johnny's seasoning salt. Cook until caramelized.
3Butter the onion buns and put them under the broiler until browned. When buns are done remove from oven, add hamburger and top with grilled onions. Enjoy!
