    fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 5 tsp
    sugar, divided
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    fish sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    lower sodium soy sauce
  • 1 lb
    flank steak, trimmed
  • ·
    cooking spray
  • 3 Tbsp
    lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    peanut butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed red pepper
  • 3 c
    romaine lettuce, shredded
  • 2 c
    green cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 c
    mint leaves
  • 1/2 c
    cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 c
    green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1
    mango, peeled and diced

How to Make Grilled Asian Flank Steak with Mango Salad

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Combine the chopped cilantro, 1 tablespoon sugar, and the next 4 ingredients (through soy sauce) in a large zip-top bag. Add beef; let stand 15 minutes. Remove the beef from the marinade. Reserve the marinade.
  3. Place beef on a grill rack coated with cooking spray. Drizzle with reserved marinade. Grill 5 minutes on each side or until the meat reaches your desired degree of doneness. Remove from the grill; cover with foil. Let stand for 5 minutes; cut across the grain into thin slices.
  4. Combine the lime juice, 2 tablespoons water, peanut butter, remaining 2 teaspoons sugar, and pepper in a large bowl; stir with a whisk. Add lettuce and the next 4 ingredients; toss to coat. Divide the salad evenly among 4 plates; top evenly with mango. Serve with the beef.
