This recpe is not spicy but more sweey and rich, the way we liked them in the 1950s.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 3 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar (you may want to start with 1/4 cup and adjust to sweetness you prefer)
  • 1 bottle
    (26 ounces) catsup
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 8-10
    hamburger buns

How to Make Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion in a large deep skillet. Drain the grease from the skillet as well as possible.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve hot on warm hamburger buns.
