gail's goulash
My mom made this when I was growing up. I changed it a bit by adding the the diced tomatoes and cheese because my husband thinks you should put tomatoes in everything and I love cheese!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- - salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 can ranch style beans 15 oz
- 1 can tomato sauce 8 oz
- 1 can diced tomatoes (optional) 15 oz
- 1 cup rice, long grain (scant)
- 2 1/4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cooking oil (olive)
- 1/2 cup cheese, shredded (optional)
How To Make gail's goulash

Step 1Combine rice, salt, oil and water in saucepan. Boil covered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until done. Cover and set aside.

Step 2Brown ground beef with salt and pepper to taste until done then drain.

Step 3Add beans,tomato sauce and tomatoes (if desired) Heat thoroughly.

Step 4Add two cups (or more) cooked rice to beef mixture. Stir together until well blended and hot. Note a small amount of water may be added, if needed.

Step 5Top with 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese-optional.
