fresh mushroom cream sauce for steak
This steak topping is so good! The recipe came from my Dad. I add some fresh basil and use olive oil when I make it now. Its simple to make and can be used with a less expensive cut of meat to make a special occasion dish.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (or olive oil)
- 1 pound mixed fresh mushrooms of your choice
- 1 - small sweet onion, finely sliced
- 1/2 cup beef bouillon or beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- - freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil, optional
How To Make fresh mushroom cream sauce for steak

Step 1Heat oil in a medium skillet. Add mushrooms and onions and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring. Add broth and cream and just bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Add basil, if using, and pepper to taste. Simmer until slightly thickened (just 3 or 4 minutes). Serve over grilled or broiled steak.
