french onion sandwiches

Got this one from my Betty Crocker cookbook, their note says "tastes like French onion soup over steak". I, for one, don't care for french onion soup, but these sandwiches are amazing!!!

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 4 - 4 oz. beef cubed steaks
- 1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 - 1 in. slices french bread, toasted (or brat buns)
- 2 - 1 oz. slices swiss cheese, halved
How To Make french onion sandwiches

Step 1In a large skillet melt margarine. Add steaks and cook over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or till done. Remove from skillet, reserving drippings.

Step 2Cook onion in drippings till tender. Combine broth, cornstarch, worcestershire, garlic powder, and a dash pepper. Add to skillet. Cook and stir till bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more.

Step 3Place steaks on bread. Top with cheese and onion mixture.
