My mom actually served this at my wedding rehersal dinner! Everyone loved it. It's great for a meal or snacks for the kids. Pair it with a salad and some fresh fruit and you have a complete meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 10 3/4 ounces tomato soup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper (to your taste)
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large loaf french bread, sliced length-wise, spread with garlic butter and toasted
  • 14 slices tomato, sliced thin
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese, sliced in triangles

How To Make french bread bake

  • Step 1
    Mix meat, soup, salt, pepper, oregano and worcestershire sauce.
  • Step 2
    Spread evenly on both halves of the toasted french bread, covering edges completely.
  • Step 3
    Place both halves on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven and top with alternating tomato and cheese slices. Return to oven long enough for cheese to melt. Slice and serve.
