french beef stew

I found this recipes many years ago in a book given to me from my Cub Scouts. It's a family favorite and great to make on a busy day, the oven does all the hard work. It makes the house smell wonderful, I hope you'll enjoy it.

Ingredients
- 3 - beef bouillon, cubes
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 pounds beef, cut into 1- inch cubes
- 4 - carrots,cut into 4- inch strips
- 4 ounces jar sliced mushrooms, drained
- 2 - onions, chopped
- 2 slices white bread, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 - potatoes, cut into1-inch cubes

Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water. Place beef cubes, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and onions in a casserole dish.

Step 2Sprinkle with crumbled bread and tapioca; season with salt and pepper. Pour bouillon over all.

Step 3Cover dish tightly with foil. Bake in oven for 4 hours. Check several times to be certain liquid has not evaporated; add water if necessary.
