Once you remove the pot roast and vegtables from the slow cooker you can slowly add some flour to the juice to make a nice gravy to pour over the pot roast.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 2 lb
    pot roast
  • 1 c
    red wine, dry burgundy
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1 tsp
    rosemary, dried
  • 2 large
    bay leaf
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 3 medium
    onions, sectioned
  • 3 medium
    potatoes, rough cut with skins
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp

How to Make Flavorful Pot Roast


  1. Rub pot roast with salt and pepper and place in crock pot.
  2. Add segmented onions and rough cut potatoes around the pot roast.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients in a sauce pan over medium heat to blend flavors.
  4. Pour contents of sauce pan over the pot roast and cook on low for 6 hours or 4 hours on high setting.
