Ingredients
- 2 flat iron steaks
- salt and pepper
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 large shallot
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 cups dry red wine
How To Make flat iron steak with red wine sauce

Step 1Season the steaks with salt and pepper and let them come to room temperature. Add oil to a skillet and once it's nice and hot, sear the steaks about 5 minutes per side. Depending on how thick the steaks are and how you like them cooked.

Step 2Remove the steaks to a carving board to rest.

Step 3Add the butter to the pan and once melted, add the shallot and garlic. Cook 3 minutes.

Step 4Add the tomato paste and cook for 3 minutes. Add the red wine.

Step 5Increase the heat, and let it reduce by half. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper.

Step 6Carve the steaks and serve with the sauce.
