I received this recipe from a friend and with a few tweaks over the years, I have perfected it so much that now even my husband can get out the recipe and make this one. My now-grown children have called and asked for this recipe and I think this one is officially one of those that will be passed down through the family. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

How To Make family favorite meatloaf

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Into a large bowl combine ground beef, eggs, diced onion, tomato sauce, ketchup, garlic salt, pepper and crushed corn flakes. Mix well.
  • Step 2
Pour out the meatloaf into a 9 x 13 baking dish and form into a large loaf making an indentation in the top of the meatloaf for the sauce. (see photo)
  • Step 3
Now make the sauce. Whisk all the sauce ingredients together: tomato sauce, water, vinegar, splenda brown sugar and mustard
  • Step 4
Pour the sauce over the meatloaf in your pan.
  • Step 5
Make sure you get some in the indentation on top of the meatloaf.
  • Step 6
Cover with foil and bake 2 hours. BASTE OCCASIONALLY! Remove foil during the last 30 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
  • Step 7
Remove from oven and let sit uncovered for 5 minutes before cutting.
