Ingredients
- 3 pounds beef short ribs
- 3/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 2 cups onion, sliced
- 1.5 cups hot water
- 8 tablespoons dark brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 - minced garlic cloves
- 2 large bay leaves
How To Make english sweet and sour ribs

Step 1Short ribs should be meaty and cut in the English cut.

Step 2Trim excess fat from short ribs.

Step 3Combine flour, seasoned salt and pepper; dredge short ribs.

Step 4Brown ribs in oil on all sides in dutch oven.

Step 5Remove meat from pan.

Step 6Add onions and cook until golden brown.

Step 7Place ribs on top of onions.

Step 8Combine water, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic and bay leaves; pour over ribs.

Step 9Cover and bake in 350 oven for 2 1/2 hours.

Step 10Remove bay leaves before serving.
