round steak, cut into 1" cubes
3 Tbsp
flour
1 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
pepper
2
carrots, peeled and sliced
3
potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 large
onion, thinly sliced
16 oz
whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped

BISCUIT TOPPING

2 c
flour
1 tsp
salt
3 tsp
baking powder
1/4 c
shortening
1/4 c
milk

How to Make English Beef Pot Pie

Step-by-Step

  • 1Place steak cubes in crock-pot.
  • 2Combine flour, salt and pepper, toss with steak to coat thoroughly.
  • 3Stir in remaining ingredients except biscuit topping and mix thoroughly.
  • 4Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 10 hours.
  • 5One hour before serving, remove meat and vegetables from crock-pot and pour into shallow 2-1/2-quart baking dish.
  • 6Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • 7Cover meat mixture with biscuit topping.
  • 8Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • 9BISCUIT TOPPING:
  • 10Mix dry ingredients.
  • 11Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • 12Add milk all at one time; stir well.
  • 13Pat out on floured board; roll out to cover baking dish.
