Ingredients
- 2 pounds round steak, cut into 1" cubes
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 - carrots, peeled and sliced
- 3 - potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 16 ounces whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
- BISCUIT TOPPING
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup milk

Step 1Place steak cubes in crock-pot.

Step 2Combine flour, salt and pepper, toss with steak to coat thoroughly.

Step 3Stir in remaining ingredients except biscuit topping and mix thoroughly.

Step 4Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 10 hours.

Step 5One hour before serving, remove meat and vegetables from crock-pot and pour into shallow 2-1/2-quart baking dish.

Step 6Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Step 7Cover meat mixture with biscuit topping.

Step 8Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

Step 9BISCUIT TOPPING:

Step 10Mix dry ingredients.

Step 11Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.

Step 12Add milk all at one time; stir well.

Step 13Pat out on floured board; roll out to cover baking dish.
