A good friend of mine just got back from 8 weeks near the North Pole, and I threw together a little Sunday afternoon “welcome home” party. I wanted something simple, yet tasty. Rummaging around the walk-in, I found the ingredients to make this…

So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How to Make Easy Peasy Sausage/Sirloin/Pasta Bake

Step-by-Step

  1. PREP/PREPARE
  2. Gather your ingredients.
  3. Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to 350f (180c).
  4. Cook the ground sirloin and sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and reserve.
  5. Add the cooked al dente pasta to a large mixing bowl.
  6. Add the tomato sauce, and mix.
  7. Here is my favorite tomato sauce: Classic Tomato Sauce
  8. Add the cooked sirloin/sausage, and mix.
  9. Chef’s Note: At this time add a bit of salt and pepper, to the mixture, to taste.
  10. Chef’s Note: I’m not adding a lot of additional spices to this dish because most of the flavor is coming from the tomato sauce. However, any additional spices are up to you.
  11. Grease the insides of a large baking dish, or 4 medium ramekins.
  12. Add the pasta/sauce/sausage mixture.
  13. I wanted my dish to be a bit juicier, so I added more tomato sauce.
  14. Cover with the mozzarella cheese.
  15. Place in the preheated oven and allow the dish to bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly, and begins to brown..
  16. PLATE/PRESENT
  17. Serve with a small side salad, and some nice crusty bread. Enjoy.
  18. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.

  20. Additionals: I'm thinking that some black or kalamata olives might give it a bit of a kick, and possibly some sautéed mushrooms...
