easy meatballs

My late Mum's famous meatballs. Posted for Pat as requested on my Slow Cooker Meatballs recipe. So many friends and family love these meatballs we get many requests to make them. They are so simple to make! Hope you like them too. This recipe is for grilled meatballs but if cooking them in the slow cooker you dont have to cook them first if you prefer not to. Add herbs and spices as you like.

yield 3-4 serves for meatballs or about 4 patties

Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • 1/2 - medium onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2-3/4 cup breadcrumbs (i use wholegrain)
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon powdered chicken stock
  • 1 1/2 cups cheese, grated

How To Make easy meatballs

  • Step 1
    Set oven to GRILL 200C for meatballs or BAKE 180C for patties
  • Step 2
    Place lean beef mince in a large bowl and break it up (I use a potato masher).
  • Step 3
    Add egg, milk, salt, pepper and powdered stock to the mince and mix all together until well mixed.
  • Step 4
    Add onion and cheese and mix, then add breadcrumbs. Mix until you cant see breadcrumbs anymore.
  • Step 5
    Roll into 1 inch balls or patties

    Lina a baking tray with baking paper and place meatballs or patties into tray. Photo: Patties
  • Turn once, halfway through cooking (10 minutes each side for meatballs, 10-15 minutes for patties (rissoles).

    Grill for 10 minutes or bake for 10-15 minutes on each side until nicely crusted but not dry Photo: Meatballs
  • The kids rolled these meatballs for themselves, one prefers large size and the other prefers mini sized!
    Step 8
    Serve with anything you like, mashed potatoes, pasta or in a bread roll!
