Easy Beef Stew
2 lbbeef stew meat
4 cbeef broth
3 lbpotatoes, peeled, cut into quarters
1 pkgbaby carrots, about 50
2 pkgbrown gravy mix with 1 cup cold water
·salt, pepper, garlic powder, bay leaf
How to Make Easy Beef Stew
- Dredge Steve beef in flour. Brown in a large saucepan using 2 Tbsp oil. Usually 2-3 batches adding more oil as needed. Medium heat. When done, return beef to saucepan.
- Add beef broth, carrots, potatoes, salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste, and 1 bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer 1 hour on low medium.
- About 10 minutes before it's done, add 2 packages brown gravy mix that you have mixed with 1 cup cold water. Stir this in and add a splash of any dry red wine or cooking wine, stir, cover and simmer until gravy is thickened and veggies are tender.
