This Little Smokies recipe is perfect if you're looking for an easy appetizer. The sauce has everything in it - sweetness from the brown sugar, sourness from the orange juice, and a tanginess from the mustard. These aren't your typical BBQ smokies; There's a little sophistication to this super simple recipe.

  • 2 c
    light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour or cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp
    ground dry mustard
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    defrosted and undiluted orange juice concentrate
  • 2 pkg
    Hillshire Farms "Little Smokies" cocktail wieners (14 oz each)

How To Make drema's orange glaze cocktail wieners

  • Pre-heating the slow cooker.

    Preheat and set a Crock Pot or other slow cooker, chaffing dish, or fondue pot on the lowest setting.
  • Brown sugar, flour, and mustard in a bowl.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, and mustard.
  • Slowly adding vinegar and orange juice.

    Make a well and gradually add in the vinegar and orange juice. Stir well.
  • Adding glaze to the slow cooker.

    Transfer the mixture to the Crock Pot or heat source.
  • Adding little smokies to the slow cooker.

    Add the cocktail wieners.
  • Stirring the glaze and lil smokies together.

    Stir gently. If becomes too thick, add small amounts of diluted orange juice with water until you reach the correct consistency of a glaze.
  • Cooking lil smokies in the slow cooker.

    Cook on low until thoroughly heated, about 30 minutes.
  • Orange glazed cocktail weiners in the slow cooker.

    * Tip: I make the glaze ahead of time and allow it to heat over med-high, then reduce the heat to low and add the cocktail wieners, allowing them to cook 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
