These were always my favorite growing up - so much tastier that the manwich version. Mom mom didn't like the hot sauce - so Dad would tell her he left it out and sneak in one shake of the bottle. Fearing he would forget - us kids would each sneak in a shake while it simmered...made for a spicy BBQ! But we loved it! ... well.. maybe not Mom!

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

2 lb
ground beef
2 bottle
chili sauce
1/2 bottle
sweet barbecue sauce
1 dash(es)
hot sauce
1/2 medium
onion, chopped

How to Make Dad's Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step

  • 1Brown the ground beef with the onion.
  • 2Drain.
  • 3Stir in sauces and cook until bubbling.
  • 4Serve on hamburger rolls or over mashed potatoes. Great reheated and can be frozen for later use. When frozen, place in a slow cooker for heating or back into the frying pan with a few ounces of water.
